These are also called as conforming loans & the most common type of loans in the mortgage. In 2021, the conforming loan limit is $548,250 in most counties in the U.S., & $822,375 in higher-cost areas. The two main categories of loans are – fixed rate & adjustable rate (also known as ARM’s). Good credit score (FICO score of 740 & above) and down payment of more than 20% are required to get competitive rates. These loans are available with or without closing costs and with or without points.
